handmade holidays: fiona's stocking

Can I just say that I love this stocking? I was inspired by Finn's stocking on Sew Liberated and Harper's stocking on SouleMama. Both were from the book Stitched in Time, which I apparently need to buy now. I just went off the pictures online, so I'd love to see the rest of the projects in the book since this one's so cute.

I set out to make the stocking with only materials already in my stash. The body of the stocking is made out of a vintage wool suit that I found thrifting and the rest of the bits are leftover pieces from other projects. I learned to do a blanket stitch using this tutorial. Why had I been putting that off? So easy and cute!

We spent the night at my parent's on Christmas Eve (which is also Grammie's birthday!) and Fiona's stocking came with us, where it hung right next to Mama's. I always loved my stocking growing up, handmade by my grandmother. It made me feel so special that someone would have spent that much time on something made for me. And it didn't hurt that it had bunnies!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. I'll be sharing some more handmade and homemade goodies over the next week or two, so come back and visit again!
