For the first year or so of her life, Fiona mostly played with books as only physical objects. She turned the pages, stacked them, and threw them across the room. In the past few months, however, she has discovered the whole world inside them. She points out images she recognizes, "Car!" and points out images she doesn't recognize, looking up at me inquisitively and saying "That?"
Keeping her books in several boxes around the house has been a great alternative to putting them on bookshelves. She can take them out and put them away herself, and the box can easily be moved from room to room.
